OT Student Open Day

Sydney University invited Scooters Australia and Permobil to their 2nd-year student open day last month to learn more about scooters and powerchairs.

Staff from our Sydney store went along and helped over 80 students get familiar with mobility scooter operations, technology and etiquette.

Jane Ramsey, the Sydney manager said that the aim was to introduce different types of available products which the students could all try – both scooters and wheelchairs.

“We took the range of portable foldup Luggies, the pull-apart Monarch Buzz the new Gatsby (which was a real winner), and the Tesla. Students asked various questions regarding weight carrying, price, who would use the scooters and the kinds of distance a scooter would typically travel,” said Jane.

They all took their turns in riding around on the scooters and were shown some of the more tricky safety issues that a person might encounter on their travels and how to avoid them.

Scooters Australia offers all professionals the opportunity to have a training session at their premises, to familiarise themselves with scooter operation and our training regime for new users. Just call your nearest office to arrange a free demonstration session at a time to suit you.
