Negotiating the #NDIS can be a little daunting for people looking for #mobilityscooters, #motorisedscooters and #electricwheelchairs . Most participants quickly seek the help of an advisor, whether that be an Occupational Therapist, a Financial Advisor, or other professional, most often for a fee or a payment from NDIS out of the total allowance provided to the participant.
This can sometimes severely reduce the amount of money available for the purchase of equipment or other forms of assistance.
But for high end capital equipment like scooters, you will still need the assistance of a suitably qualified professional.
Scooters Australia have been providing equipment via government funding since 1992, including most recently through the NDIS scheme. We have been helping end users find the best product for their needs for over 25 years.
We have also been helping with advice on how to achieve the best outcome for money spent. With the NDIS, completing The Plan successfully will help you get what you need in the fastest time-frame. That's why we've developed a guide to help you complete the Plan to get started.
A word of warning: Some professionals insist on obtaining three quotes for different products before they will submit the Plan for you. They then ask three companies to do in-house demonstrations but sometimes only because they think they have to. This can waste a lot of your time, their time, and the time of at least 2 suppliers. And it costs the scheme money.
If you are sure you want a particular product, that is your prerogative, especially if the product is quite unique or really suits your requirements. However, you can organise three different quotes yourself if you think that will help you, but you don't necessarily need to have three separate demonstrations of the products - you only need to if you yourself are unsure. And you can organise it yourself simply by contacting the suppliers direct.
You can decide how you want to proceed. If you are confident in what you want, fill in the plan yourself and submit it, using the NDIS website as your reference, and our Plan guide here.

Anna and her parents chose her Luggie without the help of any professionals
There is a new paradigm now unfolding, with the NDIS slowly replacing other government schemes to assist people in enjoying the normal day-to-day activities that many people take for granted. From information we have been provided by sources within the industry, we have compiled a series of guidelines for participants and providers on how best to navigate the application process.
The new role of Providers is to assist with information - in a sense to be the information broker to the client. As a provider, Scooters Australia has a long history of assisting professionals for over 25 years to assist with the task of finding the right product for the right circumstances. We're not the only ones, but we have been there since 1992 as one of the very first retailers of mobility products in Australia.
When it comes to mobility scooters and off-the-shelf powerchairs, we have a long history in sourcing the best quality products and in being able to provide a proven after-sales service facility in all major capital cities and many regional areas:
